“I came with my two toddlers to Nisa Homes in search of safe shelter from domestic violence and found a place that helped me start my life over.
From the start of our marriage, my husband was a super controlling and aggressive man. The abuse only escalated to a point where he would subject me to violence and verbal degradation daily.
I knew that to protect myself and my children, I needed to get out.
Once at Nisa Homes, my caseworker helped me apply for financial assistance and second-stage housing.
With this support, I was able to enroll my children into day-care in order to pursue my dream of becoming a registered physician in Canada. Before 3 months, I had moved out into my own unit and a couple months down the line, passed my first qualifying exam!
I am so grateful to have found Nisa Homes, a place that not only sheltered me in my time of need but empowered me on my road to self-sufficiency.”
