“My life took a horrific turn when one winter day my children and I came home to find our belongings in bags outside of our home.
My husband suffered from mental health illnesses that were managed with medication. Recently he stopped taking his meds, causing him to become increasingly confused to a point where he thought he could no longer trust us.
Alone, with two children in tow, I spent the day at the nearest mall to stay warm, but as it got closer to closing time, I knew I needed to find a place to stay for the night. I went from shelter to shelter, only to be turned away because they just didn’t have space for us. Finally, I came across Nisa Homes in my online search and called them straight away.
Alhumdulillah, they sent an Uber to pick us up and bring us to the Home, where a caseworker was waiting to get us settled despite it being after hours. But their care and support did not end there.
The women at Nisa Homes helped me secure a job in a local school. With this job, I was able to save enough to move my family into an apartment of our own and provide for their every need.
I am so grateful to have found Nisa Homes on that cold winter night – without them, I don’t know where I would be today.”
