The settlement agency told you that you have a good prospect in finding a job because of your recent graduation. Later, they inform you that they have potential job-interviews lined up. You also find out that you are pregnant with your first child. You are very anxious to have a conversation with your husband about the pregnancy as well as the job interviews.

You confide to your Supportive Counsellor that your husband had been violent many times, even locking you up. One time, he pushed you against the wall, and you hit your head. He then dragged you to the bedroom and locked you up inside, leaving you there for days. You are afraid he will find you, and you’re afraid for the baby.

Your husband continues to call and text, apologizing for what he did and promising that it would never happen again. He informs you that he has included you as a dependant in the permanent residency application and he is really excited to start his life together as residents in Canada.

Your caseworker will help you to set goals and assess your individual circumstance to find the best pathway forward for you, with access to as many resources in the community that you may need.

You want to believe him and are considering returning to him especially now that you are having a baby. However, you are worried that if you leave Nisa Homes now, maybe they won’t help you again in the future because you are choosing to try and reconcile. You decide to discuss this with your caseworker. Will your caseworker support your decision?

Nisa Homes will not turn you away even if you have accessed the services before. We process each application as a new situation and based on a new intake assessment, would be able to offer you other services in the future.

Your Student Visa is set to expire, and you don’t have any family or friends to support you or the baby. You decide to go back to your country as you would have your family to support you through your pregnancy and after the baby arrives. You are worried about the future for your child and are unsure if this is the right decision.

Your caseworker will support you with any decision that you feel is the right one for you. She will also provide you will all the alternative options available so that you can make the best decision for you and your child.
