Hania entered Nisa Homes feeling emotionally overwhelmed and fearing what the future would bring for herself and her five-year-old daughter. She had no income, no place to call home and no immediate plan. However, Hania had faith and determination. From the moment she walked through the front door at Nisa Homes she knew she had to work twice as hard to establish a stable future for herself and her young daughter.
Hania worked diligently with the staff at Nisa Homes to heal, to grow and to persevere. She attended therapy, group workshops and skills training webinars. She saved up every penny she could in order to rent a place of her own to move into. Hania fixed up her resume, applied for jobs, attended several interviews and successfully landed a position. Within such a short period of time she was able to rise from a difficult situation and build the foundation for a bright and successful future for her family of two.
With a lease ready to be signed and training well underway at her new job, Hania was still facing financial burdens and financial stress. National Zakat Foundation stepped in and provided her the helping hand she needed to get on her feet. We provided her with a rent deposit and food vouchers so that she was able to move in and start making her house a home.
The generous donations of Zakat donors made it possible for Hania and her daughter to have a fresh start together in a happy home. This financial assistance did not only give Hania rent and food, it gave her independence, security, and hope.
Did you know that 23% of all Zakat applicants at NZF are single mothers, and 84% of them are unemployed or seeking employment? This Ramadan, we urge you to remember our sisters like Hania and give your sadaqa and zakat donations locally at https://nzfcanada.com/donate/
By the will of Allah SWT and through your ongoing support, we hope to keep changing the lives of single mothers across the country and the ummah.
