Your son in law prevented your grandchildren from coming down in the basement to see you. You were not even allowed to go up and see them. You once got toys from the thrift shop for your grandkids and your son in law came down and started yelling at you. He said that you should be spending money on moving out rather than buying filthy toys that kids did not want anyways.

You felt ashamed and humiliated. You did not sleep that night and you wished you were dead.

One time, when your family wanted to take a vacation for a week, they bought you a small box of food and locked you into the basement while they went away. You had no way to escape. You never imagined your life to be like this, sometimes the loneliness is overwhelming, and you can’t eat or drink. It is hard for you to make any decision about your own life.

What you have experienced emotionally damaged you. You are really hurt, and you sometimes have intense emotional and psychological pain. How can Nisa Home help you?

Your dedicated supportive counsellor can support through your emotional healing journey. She can also refer you to free community counselling services that would provide ongoing support for you even after moving out.

You love being around children, but because of what you have experienced you constantly have nightmares. You worry that if you come to Nisa Home, you would have to share a bedroom with children.

Single mothers with children do not share bedrooms with anyone. You will be sharing the bedroom with another single woman. You can participate in our Wellness Program to help you begin your journey for self-care and gentle steps towards your second chance.

You have been alienated from the larger community for so long. You have no social support, and this loneliness is killing you. How can Nisa home support you with your loneliness?

Your dedicated supportive counsellor that will provide you with the right tools to cope with your feelings in a safe way. We also have all kinds of weekly program activities that all participate in. It’s a great time to socialize while cooking, painting, knitting, craft, gardening – all kinds of fun! We can also help you to find community programs that can help you to connect with other ladies!

Nisa Homes can provide you with a safe, warm home and help you to make your own goals and find a solution so that you can have a place to call home.
